Note: inscribed verso: 'The legendary Uddingston Pipe Band's retreat from the Cowal Gathering, 2002' Note 2: David Gray has been painting for over 50 years, principally landscapes and still life and more recently portraits. He was born in Dublin but grew up and was educated in Glasgow where he attended Saturday morning classes and then evening classes at the Glasgow School of Art. During a varied career, David spent 14 years in the Royal Navy which provided plenty of inspiration for his work; from the West Indies to the Middle East and Gibraltar. He studied with Robert Lenkiewicz for 18 months in Plymouth after leaving the Navy. David has had several solo exhibitions in Plymouth and his paintings have sold to collectors from around the UK, in Canada, USA, Australia, Spain, Ireland and even China! An illustrated biography on David and his art was published in November 2010 by Garage Press.
